Foping Reserve
The Foping Reserve is at the juncture of Foping, Yangxian and Taibai counties on the southern slope of Qinling Mountain in Shaanxi Province. Covering an area of 350 square kilometres,
it was established in 1978 for the protection and breeding for giant pandas. It is composed of three protection stations of Sanguanmiao, Damuping and Yueba. In the Sanguanmiao Station,
one giant panda can be found in every 5.4 square kilometres in average. In March 1985, a female giant panda, Dan Dan, with seldom skin of alternate brown and white, was discovered and
rescued in this reserve. After that the reserve became famous at home and abroad.
