What are the names of the different MRT Lines in Singapore?

From the MRT route map above, the Green line is known as the East West Line. Red line is known as the North South Line, the Purple line is known as the North East Line, the Yellow line is known as the Circle Line and the Blue line is known as the Downtown Line Stage 1.


Singapore Future MRT Route Network 2014-2020

Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) has opened up a few more new lines to the already existing MRT network and few more lines to be open in the near future too. One of the recently opened line (2013) already in operation include the Downtown Line Stage 1 which runs from Bugis to Chinatown. 2014 will include the North South Line Extension which is a 1km extension from Marina Bay to Marina South Pier.

When is the schedule for the opening of Downtown Line Stage 2 as well as other future lines such as Thomson Line?

In 2015, the Downtown Line Stage 2 will be up and the route runs from Rochor all the way to Bukit Panjang and connected to the LRT system at Bukit Panjang. Tuas West Extension (Gul Circle to Tuas Link), Downtown Line Stage 3 (Expo to Fort Canning), Thomson Line Stage 1 (Woodlands North* to Woodlands South), Thomson Line Stage 2 and 3 set to be opened up by the year 2020.
