Komodo Island is actually part of the Komodo National Park together with other tiny grass-covered islands of Padar and Rinca. They are all located between eastern Sumbawa and west of Flores.

The Komodo National Park is a national park in Indonesia and also a protected wildlife reserve. The park is located near the Lesser Sunda Islands in the border region between the provinces of East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara.
This is the home of the infamous giant lizards, the "Komodo Dragon". The animal itself has always been regarded as a myth until fishermen who were forced by a storm to take shelter on Komodo witness face to face with the monsters.
