About Ko Phi Phi Island, Thailand

Ko Phi Phi, or also known as Phi Phi Island is a small tiny archipelago located within the Krabi Province. It is situated between the large island of Phuket and the western Andaman Sea coast of the mainland Thailand.
The Phi Phi Islands, a very popular name worldwide is part of Thailand's protected maritime park and truly made famous for its beautiful white sandy palm fringed beaches and exquisite limestone monoliths that rise from the Andaman Sea.

There are a few islands in this archipelago and they are namely Ko Phi Phi Don, Ko Phi Phi Leh, Ko Phai, Bida Nok and Bida Nai.

The islands are located around 50 km East of Phuket and about 42 km south of Krabi. In order to get to the islands, one has to ride on a ferry or speedboat from either Phuket or Krabi.

Ko Phi Phi Don meaning "island" in the Thai language is the largest island of the group and it is actually the only island with permanent inhabitants.

Phi Phi Island is fast becoming less attractive as masses of tourist pour into this island and also due to the current construction going on on the island.
However, it still retains its charm and is indeed a beautiful place to visit.

In fact everybody should visit Phi Phi island at least once in their entire lifetime. The place has a vibrant nightlife and one can find many dive shops available to choose from.

The beaches in Phi Phi however are not the best Thailand can offer as compared to other parts.

Flights To Phi Phi Island

If you plan to travel to Phi Phi island by flight, then Destination Air Shuttle has flights to Ko Phi Phi with its direct seaplane transfers from/to Phuket International Airport. The airline company also flies to other popular Andaman coast destinations.
More often than not, the airline usually runs a promotional rate for transfer between Phi Phi to Phuket Airport for a promotional price of only 2000 baht (high season is 6000 baht).

Once you have taken the flight to Phi Phi Island, land at Laem Thong which is located near the northern tip of the island.

Following that, take a transport to Tonsai, if necessary and the journey will take around another 30 minutes via a longtail boat.

Travel To Phi Phi Island By Ferry Plus Taxi

There are ferry services available which leave Phuket and Krabi daily quite a no of times daily during the high season. The ferry tickets are sold at around 350 baht for return ferry transfer to/from Phuket, Krabi (350 baht) or Ko Lanta (300 baht).

If you buy the ticket in advance, it will also include transport to the pier and the price can even be much cheaper if you were to book them in a package inclusive of a bus ticket at a Bangkok travel agency.

The general rule of thumb if you intend to travel by ferry is that the nearer you are to Ko Phi Phi, the more expensive the ferry tickets will get with its peak at 350 baht sold at the pier.
