We stayed one night and directly booked the hotel. We got the local residents rate with buffet breakfast included. The hotel responded to our emails within 24 hours.
Pros: excellent customer service, good buffet selection
Cons: The airport pick up was disappointing. They did not meet us outside of customs. We had to wheel our bags across the airport entrance to their lounge. We did not get the exact car that we booked. Otherwise they offered us water and got the car ready quickly. Check in was easy and we were brought to our room with free lemon juice and dried mangoes.
Unfortunately we did not get the room that we booked. We asked for an executive room which was newly renovated and non smoking. Instead we got the older smoking room. The bath was big and was in black and white marble. There was an old toothbrush as an amenity which must have been overlooked. The room needed serious updating. It looked tired and worn. The carpet had stains, the furniture was old in age and style, no new technology like flat screen or wifi and the iron looked old and the hair dryer had no power. As a plus, the room was big and had a lot of closet space.
There was no airconditioning in the hallway, lobby and most public
areas (except the breakfast place) which was surprising since Manila was humid and hot.
Overall, the place needed renovations and better airport pick up service. The staff was pleasant and courteous. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this hotel since it is not comparable to the other mo brands.
I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for only one night. I reached here early with a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong. There is absolutely no problem in checking in early. The lobby is small but rather elegant and the hotel staff are very friendly. Services are fantastic and excellent.
The room is very big with a huge double bed that we easily slept two adults and one child in. The bathroom is very nice with flower decoration. Pool area is big with many sunbathing chairs.
Overall this is a great five star hotel with excellent service. The bad thing however is that the area surrounding it is a little bit boring.
This is my third stay in Mandarin Hotel and honestly i really like to stay here. Food is great and fresh, hotel staff are very friendly to talk to. They really attend to my request like when i requested for a bigger room and upper floor i got it. I love to hang out at the poolside enjoying a lazy warm afternoon with a beer. When i requested for drink at the poolside, immediately i was attended,i dont have to wait for a long time. Poolside staff always monitor to their guests’ needs or requests. Once there was a very strong wind immediately they reacted by closing all umbrellas to keep all guest safe.I wish all the hotel staff to continue so.In my next visit to makati for sure i stay again in mandarin hotel.I was really satisfied by the service rendered. Hotel location is just near to all those business and recreational areas and just a few minutes from the airport.
