and train which Kota Bharu offers and the journey only take abour 1 hour.

If you want to go to Kuala Terengganu or other locations in Terengganu state, then the main north-south highway is widely used and easily accessbile for long distance buses from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and other cities in Peninsular Malaysia.

If you intend to take a flight to Kuala Terengganu, then Kuala Terengganu's own Sultan Mahmud Airport (TGG) does offer several flights daily from Kuala Lumpur and also twice daily from Penang. AirAsia offers cheap flights to Kuala Terengganu.
From the airport, it will take about 2 hour drive to go to Kuala Besut before taking a ferry or speed boat to the Perhentian islands.
