The Philippines is an island nation located in the Malay archipelago of Southeast Asia. With Manila being its capital, the country has over 7000 islands commonly known as the Philippine Archipelago and about 700 of which are inhabited by humans.
The Philippines borders the Philippine Sea to the east and with South China Sea the to the west and to the Celebes Sea on the south.
The islands are commonly divided into three island groups: Luzon Visayas and Mindanao. Manila, the busy port on Luzon, besides being the national capitalis also the second largest city after its suburb Quezon City.

The best time to make a holiday vacation trip to the Philippines is perhaps from the middle of December to the middle of May because that is off-season for typhoons.
If you travel to the Philippines in either December (Christmas) or April (Easter), then it will be good to not travel more than necessary as the whole country is mobilised, making it difficult to get a seat on any transport.
The best months to visit are January, May and December if colorful celebrations and fiestas are on your list of 'purpose for making the trip'.
