Perhentian Island (Pulau Perhentian) is located at the north-eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is around 21 km off the remote town of Kuala Besut in Terengganu. 2 beautiful and unspoilt islands lie amidst exquisitely crystal clear waters. The 2 islands which made up Perhentian Island are Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Perhentian) and Perhentian Besar (Big Perhentian). It is known that fishermen of the past used to stop over at the island for a rest or to shelter during a major storm. It's jungle provides many interesting adventures for trekkers who may chance upon flying fox or long-tailed macaques, while not forgetting the splendid coral gardens of the underwater marine life.
