Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base
This base is a demonstration program providing a similar open ecological environment for giant pandas in Sichuan Province. Today it breeds some 20 giant pandas, lesser pandas, black-necked cranes, white cranes and other rare animals.
The base consists of the Scientific Research Building,Open Research Laboratory, Veterinary Hospital, animal houses and playing ground of giant pandas, Giant Panda Museum, Comprehensive Service Department and other facilities. In it the bamboos
and woods are green, flowers are in full blossom and birds are singing everywhere. With natural scenes and artificial spots, it provides a nice environment for giant pandas and other rare wild animals to live. Up to now, the base has bred 48 baby
giant pandas in 32 births. Of them 28 have survived. Also the base has fulfilled more than 50 related scientific research projects and won more than 30 prizes. In addition, the base has been selected as one of 500 Best in the World by the United
Nations Environment Programme and received the gold prize of China Green Science and Technology.
